THE MAYER-ROTHSCHILD FOUNDATION
THE CEDARS
UNIVERSITY OF MAINE CENTER ON AGING

We are working toward the definition of excellence—together.

On behalf of The Mayer-Rothschild Foundation, I am honored to commend our colleagues from the University of Maine Center on Aging and The Cedars of Portland, Maine who are working with our Foundation to develop The Mayer-Rothschild Foundation Designation of Excellence in Person-Centered Long-Term Care.   As the first-year recipients of our Foundation’s award, UMaine and The Cedars have developed this interactive web portal to facilitate a broad national exchange of ideas and information related to long-term care and the development of person-centered principles and practices, with a broad aim to improve this often-beleaguered part of our health care delivery system.

In recognition of the many pioneers that worked alongside Dr. Robert N. Mayer and the Hulda B. & Maurice L. Rothschild Foundation during its many years of leadership and boundary-pushing in the field of aging, our family salutes the participants of this project who are creating the discovery phase essential to building a Designation of Excellence instrument such as the one Rob envisioned, that will be transferable to elders across the USA.

We thank you for your participation and interest in this process and look forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas as The Mayer-Rothschild Foundation Designation of Excellence in Person-Centered Long-Term Care program advances.

With sincere gratitude,

Debra E. Weese-Mayer, MD
