Your Senior Rehabilitation Therapy Team

At The Cedars senior rehabilitation center, exceptionally trained physical, occupational and speech therapists are full-time employeesDynavision 2 specializing in the unique rehabilitative needs of seniors. We provide up to three hours of rehabilitation each day, with therapy on weekends, should your personal treatment plan require. With individual and group therapy, state-of-the-art programs and individually tailored treatment plans, we help you achieve your ultimate goal: quick physical recovery with a strong mental attitude.

Your Senior Rehabilitation Interdisciplinary Team

The Cedars senior rehabilitation center also provides an interdisciplinary team to oversee your personal treatment plan and keep you on track. Your care coordinator and a team of professionals respond to all your medical, physical, psychological, and social needs. Social and intellectual engagement, nutrition and diet monitoring and encouragement, podiatry, pharmacy, mental health, hospice, lab and X-rays and comprehensive discharge planning are all carefully coordinated and monitored.

Your Senior Rehabilitation Medical Team

Overseen by our Medical Director and your personal physician, our experienced nursing staff provides 24-hour skilled care with specialized expertise in post-surgical care, IV management, and multiple and complex medical conditions. You will come to know and trust your caregivers from regular interaction with our on-site physician, nurse practitioner, and team devoted exclusively to the medical care of seniors in rehabilitation.

Our rehabilitation center for seniors has teaching affiliations with The University of New England, The University of Southern Maine, St. Joseph’s College and Southern Maine Community College.

Dr. Richard Marino, of Maine Medical Partners Geriatrics and Medical Director at The Cedars, was chosen in Down East Magazine’s “Maine TopDocs Physician Survey 2014” as the top physician providing Geriatric Services in the State. The physicians who made the list were chosen through a peer review in which Maine doctors were asked the question: If you or a family member had a problem in the following areas, who would you select as the best specialist in Maine?

Providing medical care to our patients and residents in the Rehabilitation Center, Skilled Care Center, and the Osher Inn Assisted Living at The Cedars, Richard T. Marino, Jr., MD, is a board certified physician with twelve years of experience and specialties in Family Practice and Geriatric Medicine.

After earning his undergraduate degree and medical degrees from Boston University, Dr. Marino completed his residency at the Maine Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program where he served as Co-Chief Resident. Additionally, he completed his specialty in geriatrics at the Maine Medical Center Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program at the Maine Medical Center.

Dr. Marino is a member of the American Geriatrics Society, American Medical Directors Association and American Academy of Family Physicians. He serves as a faculty member for the Maine Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program and the Geriatric Fellowship Program. His primary interest is in working with geriatrics and nursing home residents.
