“My friends are my estate.”- Emily Dickinson
There is an inner peace that comes with communing with nature, spirituality and oneself, but most people are too busy to achieve it. You’ll find that inner peace among seniors and staff at The Atrium. We encourage you to indulge in what makes you feel happy, engaged and purposeful.
The Cedars offers an ever-expanding family of friendships with peers your own age. Members and staff create a strong, daily support family that will shape and enrich your life for years to come. Should you need assisted living, rehabilitation or skilled nursing care services, your close friends will live conveniently on campus to visit and support you through difficult times. Walking Trails Nestled among the evergreens on our own private 11-acre campus, The Cedars community members enjoy walking paths and a beautiful courtyard. Just beyond our campus, members take neighborhood strolls and walk the Portland Trails’ Back Cove, which is less than a mile away and offers a loop ideal for walking, running and biking. Adjacent to the Trails, Payson Park boasts tennis courts and opportunities for wooded walks, as well as a playground and sledding hill for grandchildren.
Spiritual and Social Rejuvenation
Our seniors now have time to seek spiritual meaning and purpose through prayer, contemplation and appreciating nature’s beauty. Religious Jewish and Christian services are held regularly in our Chapel, and many of our seniors remain active members of their local congregation. Spirituality is also deepened through intellectual pursuits at The Atrium, with seniors attending lectures on Biblical history, world faiths, philosophy and poetry. The soaring, sun-filled Atrium often hosts jazz, classical and contemporary concerts, art classes, opera performances and poetry readings that uplift and engage our seniors. Wine and cheese gatherings, movie nights, Valentine’s Day and New Year festivities all gather good friends for good times.
Salon and Day Spa
The Cedars Salon and Day Spa won the 2009 Innovation of the Year Award by the Aging Services of Maine and New Hampshire. Relax and rejuvenate with friends and be pampered on a regular basis. Our salon’s services include haircuts; permanents; men’s beard and mustache trims; facials; scalp massage; manicures; pedicures; paraffin dips; and Swedish, Aromatherapy, and Reflexology massage.
The size of The Atrium creates a true sense of family and of community. Staff receive as much as they give as they hear the life stories and meet the families of the seniors who call The Atrium home. As members of The Atrium, our seniors and their families are involved in everything from parties to policy decisions.
The Atrium is a welcoming, positive place where people want to be. To see the benefits of independent living for yourself, request a tour today.
