Founded in 1927, The Cedars Auxiliary is a group of dynamic women and men dedicated to the residents of The Skilled Care Center and The Sam L. Cohen Rehabilitation Center at The Cedars.

Our first members collected a nickel a week to build The Jewish Home for Aged on Portland’s Munjoy Hill. Today, Auxiliary fundraising and volunteer efforts support therapeutic and recreational programs that allow our elders to live as independently as possible while receiving the highest standard of care.

Our fundraising efforts directly support:

• Religious Programming
  Auxiliary funds celebrate holidays of all faiths with joyous, meaningful services facilitated by local clergy and volunteers.
• Holiday Party
  Auxiliary efforts bring warmth and cheer to this festive afternoon.
  We shop for gifts, decorate the dining room and deliver presents.
• Mother’s Day Tea
  Our most popular event for residents honors the mothers in The Cedars care. We serve tea and scrumptious desserts and make a special memento for each resident.
• Father’s Day Party
  We celebrate fathers at The Cedars by serving pizza, helping to make ice cream sundaes and presenting each lucky father with a special gift.

Funds for these wonderful activities are raised through:

• Donors Dinner
  Our signature event is both an annual membership meeting and a gathering of fun and friendship. Help us plan, find sponsors, decorate, secure door and raffle prizes or staff the registration table.
• Phone-a-thon
  An opportunity to call our members and ask for their support for residents.
• Pamper Me Shopping Spree
  Enjoy a day out with friends indulging yourself for a great cause! Assist vendors with setup or breakdown, staff the registration and membership tables, tell everyone you know ... and shop, shop, shop!
• Golf Tournament
  Spend a sunny day on the green at our most popular fundraiser. Solicit sponsors, run a putting or hole-in-one contest or stuff giveaway bags.
